Age

As with anything, overtime your pipes will naturally wear out and break down. How long your line takes to breakdown can vary greatly depending on the type of material your line is made of.

 

Freezing

Improperly insulated pipes can freeze when tempuratures get low. When water freezes it expands, when trapped in a pipe it can cause the pipe to crack or burst.

 

Low-quality Material

Older homes may have outdated materials. These materials might not be best suited for your line and will often have problems arise more frequently.

 

Corrosion

Pipes can corrode as they get older or if your water is too acidic or hard. These corroded pipes can develop problems such as leaks.
